It was a really hot day in Thursday but as everyone arrived, most wanted to stay outdoors. The misters helped a lot.
Here's a painting of Jan's that I didn't add last week. I love how she captured the movement of the cactus. The colors are subtle and beautiful too.
Then she started on another animal painting. It's only 6" x 6".
Jan is a very good draftswoman. Horses are hard to draw accurately without some kind of proportion error.
and here is Dolly's latest. Just a few details on the bottle. She really made a convincing painting of an interior-exterior scene.
And a small painting by Blanca Price, only her second in class. It's not quite finished but has good color in the lights and neutrals in the shadows.
and here's the progress of Susan's painting. The tree looks great.
another etherial landscape from Rita
and finally Laura's painting. This is a really successful finish. It was a very complicated composition that she started over to get it just right. She had a few problems because I kept urging her to use a large brush. But she did it!
We are at Joyce's house this week!
As always, what a great pleasure to see what everyone is doing! I love the paintings and also Ann's commentary - it is interesting, to have the eye guided toward what is working. Susan, your tree is beautiful! I could go on and on, I enjoyed everything. I like the shadows in Jan's cactus painting as well as the gestures of the plant. The horse is amazing, looks as though it will be entirely convincing. Jan, I remember your longhorn (it was a longhorn, right?) painting and how quickly it took shape and how alive the animal became. Dolly's and Rita's work I invariably admire, and Laura's building, especially the perspective! - unusual and wonderful. Thanks so much again, Ann ~~
