We were at Dolly's again on Thursday and I wanted to start out with photos of her latest works. The canal in Venice is a place she visited with her granddaughter. The succulent is from her front porch. Very successful and great work on the bricks!
We are continuing witht he glaze paintings. For the past several weeks we have been putting layers of transparent color with the goal of greating a neutral shadow color. Amalia started her painting with an underpainting of burnt sienna.
Susan is still adding layers.
Dolly started with opaques in the red of the flowers.
WAnd Rita...
Cathy continues with a big painting. This requires a lot of concentration and muscular painting. We have another day on site. She will get far enough to be able to work from photos if the painting isn't quite finished
Susan Jenkinson completed her second painting of the class and I'm amazed at how quickly she jumped into the groove. I warned her that I expect students to so at least 3 or 4 bad paintings before they get the hang of painting outdoors. She hasn't had a bad one yet. Scary. But that said, Susan will be in Montana for a few months and hopefully painting up there while she's gone. We will miss you Susan!
And a last photo of the painters..
