Our luncheon on Wednesday was a great success. There was a big turnout and the reaction of the ladies was overwhelmingly positive. I wasn't expecting such an outpouring. I know it was exhausting for some. It is a big deal to exhibit work even when you know the audience. I repeated this so many times but I am grateful to have the chance to work with such dedicated students. Here's our first group photo.

And here are some photos of the work
The next day went back to Susan's and several students finished up paintings that they have been working on for several sessions. I will post photos next session.
Here's kind of an unusual story from out time at the Frommer's wonderful garden. Last week the weather was perfect and everyone was in real work mode except as we were setting up a really terrible smell kept waifting in from the garden. It would go away and we would kind of forget about it. Then it would come in again and as the sun got warmer the smell became a real factor. Susan called me up on the hill to see a bed of iris that had come into bloom.
Cathy came up to see too and on the way back to her painting discovered the body of a dead bobcat- just feet away from where she was working. I have to say that I have never had this experience in all of my years of plein air painting. But I guess that comes with the territory.
